Mathias Modica runs – along with Jonas Imbery – Gomma Records.

They started around nine years ago. Trying to do a new kind of record label. Making it in a new way.
Combining different influences, styles and things like art, illustration.
Working with graphics and people from the art or underground fashion universe.
It’s all about ideas. Gomma is a label with a strong musical and visual identity.
With artists from all parts of the world – who try to make new forms music.
Like Mathias himself: far away from boring trends. Or established clichés, using the new digital world as an opportunity,
and getting a nice buzz these days. Mathias and the label have a huge, growing worldwide fan base.
That follows every release of the label and comes to the gigs.
Mathias spent most of 2011 touring : Brazil, Mexico, Asia and all over Europe.
As a DJ and with the new Munk live band. (Watch the gigs on Youtube!)
The third Munk album “The Bird and the Beat” was released in 2011.
Mixed byEtienne de Crecy and Jan Driver (Boys Noize).
Recorded with ten different female vocalists from different countries, including Lou Hayter
from New Young Pony Club and Pollyester (Permanent Vacation). The CD came with some funny videos.
The single La Musica is still around. A lot of DJ have been dropping it all summer:
Annie Mac at BBC Radio One , A-Trak or Tim Sweeney. The song was re-released on compilations by Kitsune, Bugged Out , Friendly Fires. Even Mark Ronson was playing La Musica in his New York Radio show a few times.
Mathias now is finishing the next Munk album in Berlin. Nothing is sure yet, but we can expect more of this very special Munky sound: Raw, dirty, funky. Old drum machines and electronics surrounded by live pianos, deep bass lines, strange synthesizers.
Digital and organic at the same time… Futuristic House? Dirty Pop?
It’s always been hard to describe Modica’s music.
His songs with DJ Chloe (Ce Kul 2004),
James Murphy (Kick Out The Chairs! 2005), Asia Argento (Live Fast Die Old 2008)
all have different characteristics – but one common thing: They work on the dancefloor –
but you can also listen to them a hundred times at home and will still not be bored.
That’s probably the reason why many of Mathias’ songs have been used for movies,
in theaters or in fashion shows (Margiela, Surface 2 Air, Chanel..).

If there is an underlying trait in all good music,
it must be its ability to crush boundaries between genres,
dancefloors and couches, twelve inches and YouTube clips.

Enter Moullinex, Lisbon and Munich-based Luis Clara Gomes.
Originally from a small countryside town in Portugal, he was surrounded by music and musicians
during childhood and since an early age has been solely dedicated to the pursuit of his own sound,
refusing to adhere to a specific genre or scene, but taking comfort in disco and house as a starting point.
That being said, if there is a common trait between his productions, it must be the careful craft of melodies,
a strong degree of human touch in machinebased music, unpretentious synthesizers, desperate guitars,
striking basslines, and beats reminiscing from a not so distant dancefloor past. Luis often collaborates with friends
- in fact, most of the electric bass you’ll hear in his productions is responsability of renaissance man
Luis Calçada (yes, another Luis), and the guitars are crafted by Bruno Cardoso, the creative force more commonly known as Xinobi.
While Luis has seen his work has received the acclaim of his peers, press and fans worldwide,
with remixes for Cut Copy, Sebastien Tellier, Two Door Cinema Club (the list goes on and on…)
and collaborating with Peaches for a disco-tastic rework of the classic track Maniac, he managed to find time
to co-found the Discotexas imprint, together with Xinobi, now responsible for a flawless release catalog,
along with a residency in one of the most sought-after clubs in Europe – Lux, Lisbon.
Started in 2012, The Discotexas Band is label’s very own in-house band,
reminiscent of old Soul & R&B bands from the Motown era, where Moullinex,
Xinobi & Da Chick perform the label’s tracks along with their own.
If you think this is too much, wait: there’s more: the music videos for Moullinex
are responsability of Luis Clara Gomes and Luis Calçada.
They have been praised everywhere, for use of ground-breaking technology and creativity.

Funkabit is the stage name of Dj and Producer Simone Coccato (born on may, 20th 1986).
It was year 2006 when the overwhelming passion for house music led him to the beginning of his musical career,
by starting a duo and using for the first time his stage name, FUNKABIT.
Because of work-related reasons,
this collaboration ended in 2007, and at that time Funkabit signed the contract that still blinds him to the Bologna label Mozzarella Recordings of Francesco Brini, stage name Frank Agrario, drummer of the english band Swayzak
and member of the brilant duo Pinktronix,
Currently engaged in several projects with both international and italian Djs and producers,
as the new formation Club flamingo, along with the big Scuola Furano, out in march 2011.
His productions are influenced by the french house from the 90s, the house from Detroit,
the endless funk of the 70’s and the contemporary dance music, with voices sounds and drums from the recent past,
using samples stolen from old vinyl and fitting them properly together, creating pieces with the purpose of shaking up the dancefloor.

From the tried and true Nano Records squad, headed by Master Spiller himself,
here comes this talented boy from Trieste, North-East of Italy, with fury and iron needles.
After spending his teen years amongst vinyls, needles, turntables and a lot of music,
he starts travelling highways and byways throughout Italy, with his passion and commitment a san only guide.
Not only does he win the Italian championship and is crowned “Best Italian turntablist of the year”,
but he also finds himself amongst the world’s champion scratchers (4th at the world finals in Prague, 2004).
Hip hop meets religion here and electro is only the natural outcome:
be ready for scratches better than a surgery cut and punchy basses that will melt you down like butter.
